Some barn door hardware kits contain templates for locating the rollers and other items on the door and some doors have predrilled holes.
In this example the total height is 83 when closed over the opening the door will cover all of the casing for a cohesive look.
What this does is allow to determine door height which in turn gives you an idea of how tall to make the barn.
