Installing rain gutters requires cutting sections of guttering down to size and depending on the type of material with which you are working the actual tools you use can vary.
How do you cut aluminum gutters.
At the square cut end of the gutter attach a spherical end cap with aluminum pop rivets.
If you have difficulty cutting with the tin snips make another cut 1 to 2 inches away from the cut line with the alternate hand snip.
Lay the aluminum gutter flat and mark the part that needs to be cut.
Make sure you place the second cut on the piece of gutter you will be discarding.
You will need to align the blade with your combination square to extend the cut mark.
The good news is that it s an easy job to do.
Or you can cut around to the bottom side stop flip the gutter over and continue cutting from the other side until you meet the other cut in the middle.
Gently bend the aluminum gutter to allow you enough room to cut across the bottom of the aluminum gutter.
Rain gutters are a common addition to homes and they come in a variety of materials.
If the gutter doesn t turn a corner fasten an end cap to each end to do this hold the end cap in place temporarily with a single sheet metal screw then drill a 1 8 inch diameter hole and install one pop rivet above.
Step 1 prepare.
You can bend the gutter slightly to easily make the rest of the cut all the way around to the other side.
Step 6 slide the fine tooth file around the cut end of the aluminum gutter to remove the sharp edge left by the pattern shear to complete the process of cutting the aluminum gutter.
